The On The Beach festival has been around for a couple of years now and takes place on Brighton beach. I have always assumed it was a low key dance thing but it is back for two weekends this year and has a bit of rock in the lineup as well.
It runs over the fridays, saturdays and sundays of the last two weekends in July. The line up so far looks like this.
Friday 21st July | Chase & Status |
Saturday 22nd July | Carl Cox & more |
Sunday 23rd July | Eric Prydz & more |
Friday 28th July | Anjunabeach |
Saturday 29th July | Royal Blood & more |
Sunday 30th July | Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds & more |
The festival is a collaboration between dance promoter Louder, local promoter Joy and our very own Concorde 2.
Chase & Staus are a hard drum & bass act. Anjunabeats (see what they did there?) are purveyors of endless trance compilations. Very popular. Carl Cox is a local legend. He grew up in Shoreham by Sea, made his name in the days of acid house and is now known for his banging techno sets. Eric Prydz is an EDM dj known for his amazing light shows. Royal Blood are also local lads. They are a metal two piece with drums and bass who started in Worthing. I caught them in Portsmouth a few years back and they produce a heavy sound for such a small setup. Finally the grand dad of Britpop Noel Gallagher is bringing his high flying eyebrows to the beach.
