The Odditorium is a spin-off of the Catalyst Club, Brightons own literary salon. It is hosting a couple of talks at the Fringe this year. Curated by Dr. David Bramwell (is he a real doctor?) these are usually short talks given by an authority on some subject. This year’s topics include

Sun 14th 7.30pm Lucy Cooke overturns outdated binary expectations of bodies and behaviour with a riotous cast of animals redefining not the female and the very forces that shape evolution.

Wed 17th 7pm Wesley Doyle & Cathi Unsworth explore 80s subcultures with Some Bizarre Records and The Book of Goth. From Soft Cell and Depeche Mode to the Banshees, Joy Division and The Cure.

Wed 31st May 7.30pm Monolithic Undertow’s Harry Sword explores the sub-cultural and spiritual significance of ‘the drone’. From Indian classical and Buddhist chanting to stoner rock.

Then for the big finale you have

Wed 17th 9pm Sing-Along-A-Wicker Man 50th Anniversary + Magnet’s Peter Brewis. Dress as your favourite character and join in with the singing, buttock-slapping and dialogue of this horror classic. Also Tues 23rd May 9pm-12pm.

Then there is also the Brighton Catalyst Club End of the Pier Special. This takes place on Tue 9th May 2023 8:00PM at Haratios Bar on the pier. It looks like a lot of brighton themed talks including one form Dr. Bramwell himself.

The Catalyst Club seems to be a travelling show now it does its thing in Shoreham and Lewes.
