Are you looking for a special handmade Christmas present for someone this year? The Phoenix Gallery hosts the PRESS + PLAY, Festival of Print between the 9th and 10th of December. It is two days of ink-related things to buy and participate in.
There is a market selling prints of various descriptions on both days from 11 to 6. It is your typical open houses fair but you can get a bargain there.
In the Main Gallery the Tabletop Print Fair presents 20+ printmakers and collectives, whose work spans a variety of methods including screen-print, etching, cyanotype, woodblock and monoprint. Drop-in over the weekend to discover and purchase original prints, cards and handmade items direct from printmakers, and source the perfect gifts for yourself or a loved one this holiday season.
There are also various workshops where you can drop in and try your hand at different printmaking techniques.
A programme of workshops and courses invites visitors to be inspired and learn how to create lithographs, block prints and monoprints of their own. Little River Press and Will Mower will be hosting drop-in workshops in the Main Gallery for those who’d like to experiment in a fun and relaxed environment, and attendees looking for something more immersive can join Rachel Cohen’s full weekend printmaking course.
These are probably a good sampler of the paid courses and workshops the Gallery runs throughout the year.
