On the Beach festival is back this year with another bumper lineup. This festival has been going for a couple of years now and as the name suggests, takes place on the beach between the pier and the Concorde 2. It runs Friday, Saturday and Sunday from the 19th to the 29th of July. Again it is a mix of dance and indie acts.
Headliners this year are
Bicep. After running their poster through a translation program I believe it says Chroma AV/DJ set. Support includes “Ross From Friends”, but not the actual Ross from Friends
Underworld. All together now, “lager, lager lager lager”. Support comes from 2ManyDJs which would be worth the entrance price alone.
The Kooks. Local lads play a home town show I guess. Support from Maximo Park and Kate Nash
Sub-Focus. A pleasant evening of bangin’ drum and bass.
Carl Cox. Techno legend Carl is back again this year with a lineup featuring The Blessed Madonna (not that one), Kerri Chandler and Josh Wink.
The Libertines. With a new album on the horizon, Pete and Carl hit the road again.
While it does take place in July, the weather can be unpredictable. Last year when Noel Gallagher played it was cold, wet and miserable. Everyone came prepared except for a few who (probably) came down from London in shorts and flip-flops.
